Target Has A New Bargain Brand—And Most Items Are Under $2

Some shoppers have a bit of a Target obsession and with news like this, it’s no wonder why. The retailer is constantly coming up with ways to keep customers coming back for more, and this time, well, they’ve really sealed the deal. Target is launching a bargain brand called Smartly, with most items priced at $2 or less. The range will include personal care items, basic home supplies and more. The aim of Smartly is simple: Meet basic needs at an affordable price point, and according to Mark Tritton, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, it’s exactly what Target customers have been missing. “The introduction of Smartly to our owned brand portfolio is another example of how we are listening to consumers and bringing them differentiated solutions to make their lives easier,” he said in a press release. Famous West End nightclub loved by Boy George and Duran Duran to ‘reopen’

The chapel-turned-nightclub has been revived as a bar and performing arts centre A former Welsh chapel-turned-nightclub in London’s West End is to be revived as a performing arts centre and bar. The former Limelight Club, known for being a haunt of 80s hitmakers Duran Duran and Boy George, was once a famous nightspot on Shaftesbury Avenue. Before that, the 19th-century Grade-II listed building was a Presbyterian church for inner London’s Welsh community. In the years since Limelight closed down the building became a squat, then a Walkabout bar, before being transformed into a new performance centre. After years of planning and development, its anonymous landlord has won approval to upscale the venue into a major performance space, bar and restaurant amid the West End’s arts scene, run by arts charity Stone Nest, which currently occupies the former church. On Thursday, October 4 Westminster City Council’s licensing subcommittee granted Stone Nest’s landlord’s application to transform the church into a performance venue and basement bar. Shoppers Receive Bargains, Breast Cancer Information at Local Thrift Store

Officials with a local thrift store gave shoppers the opportunity to shop for more than just a good deal. On Wednesday, October 10th, officials with Twice Loved Treasures, a thrift shop that benefits Inspira Medical Center, held a special shopping event to help promote breast cancer awareness. The event featured a half-off sale of everything in the store, but more importantly offered shoppers the opportunity to learn about breast cancer resources and sign up for free mammograms. While some shoppers came in just for the bargains, officials hope they walked away with life-saving information. “On a day like today we run a large sale, we have 50-percent off everything in the store,” said Holly Kennedy, coordinator, Twice Loved Treasures. “So, we bring in a group of people that don’t even realize sometimes that the information is going to be here. They’re here to get a bargain and hopefully they walk away with a lot of information.” Shoppers Receive Bargains, Breast Cancer Information at Local Thrift Store

Primark is bringing back its glittery Minnie Mouse heels

We’re still dreaming about Primark’s insane heels from last Christmas – and now they’re making a comeback But now the discount fashion retailer has surprised us all by re-launching the amazing Disney heels, and this time, there’s even an extra style on offer. Primark’s famous Minnie Mouse heels each feature the statement mouse ears on the back of the shoe, as well as the adorable bow, which is then all completely covered in glitter. Coming in heeled, strappy sandal or a pointed court shoe, there’s also an array of colours to choose from: black and red, black, gold or red, depending on which style you’re after. When it comes to the strappy version, you can pick from all-over glitzy gold, or stick to Minnie’s favourite colours and opt for black with a fancy red bow at the back. As for the heeled court shoes, you can choose between bold black or Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz-esque red. Sadly, considering the fact they’re both a total steal and downright beautiful, we reckon the iconic heels will set out fast. Primark is bringing back its glittery Minnie Mouse heels

Granger at the Movies: ‘A Star is Born,’ ‘Colette,’ ‘Venom’

The Oscar race is officially on with this contemporary version of “A Star Is Born.” Bradley Cooper stars as charming Jackson Maine, a country rock star, plagued by alcohol/drug addiction, coupled with hearing loss. On night, in need of a drink after leaving a gig, Jackson stumbles into a drag bar, where he watches Ally (Lady Gaga), a wannabe-but-insecure singer/songwriter, warbling Edit Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose.” Their chemistry instantly ignites. Later, when Jackson brings Ally to one of his concerts, he summons her onstage, where the audience instantly responds to her subtle yet sensational, natural artistry. Predictably, their romantic relationship becomes rocky when her career trajectory soars to superstardom, just as his declines. As part of her record deal Ally’s British manager (Rafi Gavron) insists that she discard her makeup-free, down-to-earth persona and assume a glitzy pop star image. Making his directorial debut, Cooper filmed at actual music festivals (Stagecoach, Glastonbury, Coachella), where they both sang live, instead of lip-syncing to prerecorded tracks.
